<\/a><\/p>\nMara\u00f1uelas are a popular sweet treat from my region in Spain (Asturias), they used to make it during Easter period, but nowadays you can find them at any time of the year.<\/p>\n
You\u00b4ll see that they have different shapes, that is because in the early days every family would have their own shape of Mara\u00f1uela, so they could distinguish them in the common oven (I think it\u00b4s so cool that they would share the same oven, it gives a nice community feeling)<\/p>\n It\u00b4s pretty easy to make them, and they are delicious,I \u00a0hope you like them, so let\u00b4s go for it!<\/p>\n Ingredients:<\/p>\n 2 eggs<\/p>\n 250 gr of sugar<\/p>\n 125 gr of butter<\/p>\n 500 gr of flour<\/p>\n A teaspoon of baking powder<\/p>\n A dash of anise<\/p>\n A pinch of cinnamon<\/p>\n Lemon zest<\/p>\n How to make Mara\u00f1uelas:<\/p>\n \u00a0It is recommended to clarify the butter first:<\/span>\u00a0put the butter in a saucepan at low heat, don\u00b4t stir and just let it cook slowly. You will see that it will start forming a white foam on the surface after is cooking for five minutes. Now remove the white foam with a spoon to let the rest of the liquid butter clean, finally you can filter if there are still some remaining foam.<\/em><\/p>\n In a big bowl combine the liquid butter, the sugar, add the eggs (one by one), the anise, lemon and cinnamon.<\/p>\n Add the flour and the baking powder carefully and mix well until the dough is not sticky anymore.<\/p>\n Take a piece of the dough and make the shape that you like most, place them in the baking tray with some space in between because they will grow in the oven. Preheat the oven at 180\u00ba C and leave your Mara\u00f1uelas in the oven for about 25 minutes.<\/p>\n Let them cool down and enjoy them right away!!!
